Confidence is Sexy!

It is unfortunate but so many women these days find it really hard to accept themselves for who they really are. Sure, we could blame advertisers and social media for perpetuating women's insecurities but, in reality, that would be a cop out. At the end of the day we each need to take responsibility not only for how we feel, but also for how we choose to navigate through life. We can always find excuses for not feeling our best and we can blame other people and circumstances all day long, but in the long run that will never truly bring us any solutions.

On the other hand, when we muster up the confidence to fully accept ourselves for who we are and where we are right now, no matter what our perceived flaws and inadequacies, that's when we will become powerhouses of influence. Once we realize that comparing ourselves to others or to societal standards is futile, that's when we will get off the gerbil wheel for good and finally settle into our rightful place in life.

Confidence is an internal job and we must take ownership of that. There are people who on the surface seem like they should have all the confidence in the world, yet they are still insecure and fearful of not gaining others' approval. And there are people who simply don't give a crap about what others think of them and, as a result, feel empowered and happy no matter what. Consequently, real confidence has nothing to do with appearance, success, or social status. All it has to do with is an internal knowing and acknowledgment of our inherent self-worth that is independent of anyone or anything outside of us.

So go ahead, own your quirks, your "flaws," and your gifts. Make your changes, but only because you feel it is in your best interest to do so. Look at yourself in the mirror and realize that you are special just the way you are. After all, wouldn't the world be boring if we were all the same? I think so. So celebrate your differences rather than hiding them, and recognize the value you bring to the world just as you are right now. You are already perfect and complete. Believe that!
